Well, I am back today! And I am just doing a quick blog post, with the short amount of time I have before my little rascal wakes up. Now, I feel like I needed to do my own review on this little foundation because I think it gets way to hyped up in my opinion. Read on to find out more...
MAC STUDIO FIX FLUID / SPF 15
Now if you tell me that you haven't ever heard of this little number before then I would question if you were a true beauty lover. I mean everyone has heard of this foundation, many youtube guru's definitely have this little gem in their makeup collection and because of that I of course "had to get one". As always , I follow trends and when something is talked up about, I will eventually go out and try it for myself. However, with this I was a tad disappointed.
Do not get me wrong though! Mac is an amazing makeup brand, fabulous lipsticks worth every dollar and yes their blushes and highlighters and bronzers are fantastic and of course so many celebrities hail this brand too. But with me there was just something I didn't like about this particular foundation and for an easy Monday I thought I'd just do pro's and con's to make it easier to read ;)
Pro's /
- Medium to Full coverage foundation which is great if you like that sort of thing. With all the scars and discolouration on my face, I love this foundation for that fact alone!
- Longwearing, if I wear this in the morning and have set it nicely with a powder than this baby can last me the whole day until I have to take my make up off. Not sure how it will go in the Australian summer though. Many of my foundations melt off my face on a 35 degree day ;)
- A little goes a long way. If you only use one foundation, then studio fix would be great for you! I only need half the amount I would usually use with drug store foundations to cover my face and if I didn't change my foundations all the time then this one alone would last me anywhere between 6 - 8 months maybe?
Con's/
- Breakouts. Now this maybe doesn't apply to everyone and I hadn''t heard the word on the street until after I had purchased and used this but with acne prone skin, studio fix breaks me out a couple of days after I've worn it. I know for a fact that it doesn't happen with everyone, so don't let this freak you out and not buy it because the YouTuber 'LustreLux' maintains the fact that this actually helped clear her skin. If only that happened with me, this is one of the reasons I was disappointed.
- The cost! Okay for a stay at home mum that works legit three hours a week, girrrrlll I can't be spending so much dosh on foundation alone even though I do.. I bought the one I have in New Zealand and I remember it cost me something like $64, now I could buy 2 or 3 drugstore foundations for that price hahahahaha. Maybe not as good quality but they sure would do the job Lol!
- Packaging. Now seriously, these days a majority of foundations come with the pump with no extra cost, but the fact it costs extra to purchase it with the pump in my opinion is ridiculous. Now don't go and boo me because I understand if this was your daily foundation you would only need to buy the pump once and reuse it with all the next bottles you buy. But since that's not the case for me, I have to shake it out, and even when it does get to the end I will have to go in there and end up scrapping all of it out. That won't be for a long time though. I am only less than a 1/4 of the way through it :)
That's only a quick summary of the main pro's and con's and of course many Mac lovers won't agree with much I say and fair enough, everyone has a different opinion. But overall, this foundation is a fantastic high quality, full coverage foundation for me that lasts me hours without looking like my face has moved all over the place haha, but with my skin type I hate the fact that it breaks me out and with the cost of this thing, I definitely favour my Loreal true match over it. However, when I am attending an event or going to something special then I always find myself reaching for my Mac Studio Fix Fluid because I know I can trust it.
Excuse my ugly hand. Quick before and after photo /
Right - no foundation Left - Studio Fix Fluid
It has a nice overall coverage and finish and with the colour range Mac provides, than you should have no trouble finding an exact match to your skin colour or something close enough. The smell of it isn't all that nice but I have gotten strangely comfortable with it, sitting here sniffing it now like some sort of freak haha, it does smell pretty good. I wear NC30 and it is so perfect to my skin tone. I am not too sure what else to say, but if you don't have a Mac foundation and you feel the need to jump on the bandwagon then I personally think you should go with the STUDIO FIX FLUID. I am not an expert and I don't make myself up to be, but whenever I do hear Mac foundation being talked about 98% of the time, this is the one that they are talking about and with that many people purchasing this goodie then why would you want to try the others first ;)
Thanks for reading bubs! I know I said a quick post but uhhhh screw it hahaha, I always have a lot to say and you poor guys choose to read the whole thing, so don't blame me ;)
Enjoy your week, and stay positive my loves, don't get stuck in the same rut I have been in, you end up eating countless amounts of chocolate and feeling lazy and guilty and PERIODS are not an excuse..... okay maybe they are.
